ICL's new patented E-Z PressTm hydraulic lab presses feature a unique lightweight ergonomic design. Both the 12 ton and 20 ton models weigh less than 90 pounds due to ICL's patented unibody construction. The 12 ton E-Z Press TM weighs a mere 51 pounds! The E-Z PressTm will handle a variety of lab applications, including pressing KBr pellets for FTIR spectroscopy and briquetting samples for XRF spectroscopy. Ports in the walls of the press frame allow access for vacuum lines and electrical cords to the area between the platens, which enables use of the press with evacuable dies and heated platens. The 20 ton E-Z PressTM can also be used for making thin films with (CL's Constant Thickness Film Maker and Heated Platens (see page 20). Automated versions are available (see AIREZTM, pages 15 & 17) which are driven by pneumatic motors powered by your lab's compressed air supply.
All E-Z PressesTM feature built in polycarbonate safety shields with solid brass hardware. There are die centering depressions in the round bottom platens (see Fig. 1, page 15). Each press comes with a standard Stainless Steel filling disc to flatten the platen (see Fig. 1). The bottom platen of the 12 ton E-Z PressTm automatically centers ICL's 13mm Macro-Micro die. The bottom platen of the 20 ton E-Z PressTm has a 4" diameter depression and optional donut shaped inserts are available to automatically center ICL's 13mm, 20mm, 32mm, 35mm and 40mm die sets. Optional extra long handles are also available for both presses for extra leverage.

FTIR spectrum of caffeine in KBr pellet made usingPIKE Technologies introduces a new and advanced hydraulic press for making excellent quality KBr pellets for transmission FTIR analysis. The CrushIR™ provides excellent reproducibility with its combination of digital pressure reading and adjustable maximum pressure setting thus preventing damage to the pellet die. The new PIKE CrushIR includes a transparent protective shield making it safe for operation in a busy laboratory environment. Access for vacuum hose and other utilities is made through a port in the rear of the press.
The adjustable top screw provides flexibility for die designs of short and longer dimensions yielding an open stand range from 2" to 4.5" (5 to 11.5 cm). The efficient sized ram stroke of 0.45" (12 mm) and adjustment screw speeds pellet making by minimizing the time required to achieve the desired force.

All mechanical components of the press are enclosed in a safety metal cabinet. The access area is protected by a high-impact polymer shield.
